On June 22, Kemp ISD’s board of trustees approved adopting the proposed budget for the 2026-27 fiscal year, with that now-adopted budget being posted on the Yellowjackets’ official website of kempisd.org.

Kemp Independent School District announced the hiring of their new high school and junior high school principals last week. Kemp ISD welcomed James Colbath as their new high school principal on Monday, June 22.

Kemp ISD announced their 2026 Summer Reading Challenge will kick off on Monday, June 1. They are less than 93,000 minutes away from hitting their community goal of over 800,000-plus total minutes of reading time for the 2025-26 school year.

This national recognition highlights the district’s commitment to providing access to music education for all students and its efforts to make music a core part of the curriculum.

Phil Urso, originally from Scurry, now in Brookings, SD, was honored during the CAFES Prexy Council Ag Week banquet last week at South Dakota State University. The banquet is part of a week full of student-run events celebrating all things agriculture. Urso was named CAFES Teacher of the Year for his dedication to students in and out of the classroom.

Last month, Crandall ISD welcomed campus leaders from across the region for the first-ever Secondary Principal Symposium. Held on March 24, 2026, at the CISD Administration Building, the event brought together secondary principals and supervisors to collaborate, innovate, and strengthen the future of school leadership.
