As we close out another year, we had many highs and lows as the year comes to a close. As we reach the midway point of the decade, and as we enter a new year into 2026, we want to look back on some of our biggest stories of the year here at The Kaufman Herald while continuing to push forward into a bright future.

1929-2025 Mildred Louise McMahon, 96, of Kaufman, TX went to be with the Lord on December 5, 2025. Mildred was born on February 8, 1929, to Otto and Hattie Hester in Kennett, MO.

The City of Crandall hosted their annual Christmas parade on Saturday, Dec. 13.

Cicis Pizza, the beloved brand known for its all-you-can-eat pizza buffet, announced today the opening of its newest restaurant in Kaufman. The restaurant is located at 3055 S. Washington St. The 5,000-square-foot restaurant brings endless pizza, pasta, salad and dessert options to the city’s expanding southwest corridor at a price point designed to remain accessible for today’s guests.

news@kaufmanherald.com The Kaufman Lady Lions varsity basketball team dominated the Ennis Lady Lions on Senior night at home on Friday, Dec. 12.

Connor Stevens of the Kemp High School Bass Fishing Team took home sixth place at the Jackpot Tournament on Dec. 6. Stevens put together a strong day on Lake Conroe, competing against 76 boats in a cashprize event outside of the regular season schedule.

I love spending time in the fall and winter woods hunting deer and venison, when properly handled in the field and prepared for the table, is one of my favorite meats. This season has been a ‘different’ one for me.

District 1 FFA Officers recently demonstrated the true spirit of service by collecting much-needed donations for the Kaufman County Pet Adoption Center as part of their District Community Service Project.
