Walter Ray Reed, a beacon of warmth and resilience, was welcomed into this world on September 6, 1937, in the charming town of Lewistown, Montana. His journey on Earth came to a close on September 1, 2026, at the age of 88, as he was engaged in the act of love that defined his life - caring for his beloved wife, Sandy.

Born to George Perry Reed and Edith Alice Schrader, Walter was part of a loving family that included his siblings, Howard Reed, Bill Reed, Bonnie Schreibeis, and Donna Jacob, all of whom preceded him in death. He was also predeceased by his first wife, Patricia Reed Ervin, and his second wife, Serena Ann Reed and Stepdaughter Alicia. Walter’s life was a tapestry woven with love, resilience, and dedication.

In his early years, Walter demonstrated a profound sense of duty and patriotism by serving in the National Guard in Wyoming from April 1955 to January 1957, followed by distinguished service in the Navy until January 1961. These years of service were a testament to his commitment to his country and his fellow citizens.

Walter’s life was beautifully enriched when he found love in Sandy, with whom he celebrated 28 wonderful years of marriage. They wed on January 10, 1997, and together they built a life filled with laughter, love, and shared dreams in Canton, Texas. Walter was a devoted father to his sons, Steve and Gregory, and a loving stepfather to Jason Damron. His family extended to daughters-in-law Lori Reed and Dorie Reed, five grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren, each of whom was a source of immense pride and joy.

Known for his ever-present smile and the warmth of his laughter, Walter had an uncanny ability to lift the spirits of those around him. His kindness and joy touched the lives of many, leaving an indelible mark on his family, cousins, nieces, nephews, and countless friends.
