Local girls compete in Texas Karate League Championship

Karate students Athena and Atlantis Escobedo competed in the Ennis Lions Den Challenge and came home winners on Saturday, May 9. Known as the A-Team at their karate school, Comito’s Championship Martial Arts in Kaufman, the girls competed forms and fighting divisions for there age and belt level.

The air in Kaufman was electric on May 1 as the KHS Wind Ensemble welcomed a true musical titan to the stage: the world-renowned clarinetist, Dr. Doreen Ketchens. Known globally as “Lady Louis” for her virtuosic skill and soul-stirring performances, Ketchens joined the ensemble for a concert that residents won’t soon forget.
