1946-2026 Carolyn Denese Coats, born in Houston, Texas, passed away peacefully after a life devoted to faith, family, and service. She attended Aldine Junior High and Aldine High School and began her career as a dental assistant before working more than 20 years as a patient assistant for Dr.

1940-2026 James Edwin Davis of Kaufman, Texas, passed away on Friday, February 7, 2026, with his daughters by his side. He was 85 years old.

The Crandall Lady Pirates won two playoff games in the span of three days last week as they took home the Bi-district and Area titles with wins over Waco and Mesquite Poteet. The Lady Pirates picked up a win over the Waco Lady Lions on Feb. 17 with a 63-35 victory before heading to Forney to take on the Mesquite Poteet Lady Pirates on Friday, Feb. 20. Crandall took down Mesquite Poteet by a final score of 49-31 to move on to the Regional round of the UIL State basketball playoffs.

Kemp City Council voted Feb. 10 to seek a state criminal justice grant through the governor’s office which would pay for six Flock-brand cameras to monitor vehicular and pedestrian traffic, according to Kemp Police Chief Curtis Kaloi.

Kemp boys’ basketball honored their seniors that are part of the team on Tuesday, Feb. 17. Monica Oldenkamp, the dedicated Student Athletic Trainer, always working behind the scenes to support and care for our athletes. Ettore Schiapparoli is a hardworking player and foreign exchange student from Italy, who has brought talent, heart and Yellowjacket pride to Kemp High School. Both students were honored before their game on Feb. 17.
