news@kaufmanherald.com The Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office and Kaufman County District Attorney’s Office are set to host their 2025 Citizens Academy beginning Aug. 5. The event promotes protecting their most vulnerable citizens, striving for justice for all victims of crime and making Kaufman County a safer place to live. It will help visitors and attendees to learn more about Kaufman County law enforcement and the judicial process.

Lone Star CASA started their Clays for CASA event a decade ago, with a few goals in mind—provide a way for participants to hone their skills… right before dove season kicks off—and help support area children. Win-win, right? Clays for CASA is held at the Texas Gun Ranch in Terrell, and this year’s event takes place on August 15. All the proceeds benefit Lone Star CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) to ensure that 100 percent of children who have experienced abuse and neglect in Rockwall and Kaufman Counties have an advocate by their side.
