Triple homicide at Cedar Creek Lake subdivision leads to Ennis crash

Three people were murdered and two people were sent to a Tyler hospital in the early morning hours of Oct. 17 in the Cedar Creek Cove subdivision (formerly Cherokee Shores), the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) reported, with the suspect crashing through an entrance to a convenience store in Ennis about 2.5 hours later, putting two more people in the hospital, including himself after a self-inflicted gunshot wound, the Ellis County city’s police department said.

Crandall HS students receive State Fair blue ribbon

Crandall High School Ag Mechanic students Jesse Silva and Alex Lara earned a Blue Ribbon on Wednesday, Oct. 15 at the State Fair of Texas Ag Mechanics Show. In Ag Mechanics, a Blue Ribbon is awarded only to projects that meet state-level excellence in craftsmanship, safety and overall build quality. It’s one of the highest marks a student project can receive. The two students’ hard work paid off under Luke Parker.

National Night Out a success

Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office took part in National Night Out on Tuesday, Oct. 7. Deputies joined residents across the county to promote community partnerships and strengthen relationships between law enforcement and neighborhoods. National Night Out is an annual event that encourages neighbors to come together to prevent crime and build safer communities.
