Seven Kemp athletes inked on Signing Day

Seven Kemp High School student-athletes signed to continue their athletic and academic journeys at the collegiate level on National Signing Day on April 30. Alexia Darquea and Ruben Alanis both signed to play college at Southwestern Christian College. Emma Johns signed to play soccer at Cedar Valley Community College while Sara Sanchez and Gracie Vasquez both signed to play college soccer at Texas College. Both Maddox and Mason Henderson signed to play football at Bethel College.

May is a unique month for those of us that love spending time in the woods or on the water. Spring turkey season is still underway in much of Texas during the first half of the month, but spring squirrel season is open also in the counties of eastern Texas and in the remainder of the state, squirrel season is year around.

Kemp baseball celebrates Senior night

The Kemp Yellowjackets varsity baseball team celebrated their seniors in their final game last week. Following the game, Kemp honored seniors Adrian Culpepper, Dayne Postlethwait, Nathan Dunn, Ettore Schiapparoli, and athletic trainer Carly Williams. After the game, seniors shared one final pitch with their parents and ran the bases one last time; a special moment to celebrate a chapter they’ll never forget.

Kaufman approves site plan for Charley’s Restaurant

Kaufman City Council members approved a site plan for a Charley’s Restaurant during their regular meeting on Monday, April 27. Charley’s Restaurant chain specializes in Philly cheesesteak sandwiches and seems as though they are heading to downtown Kaufman.

Forney ISD releases statement regarding allegations against teacher

Forney ISD Chief of Communications Kristin Zastoupil issued a press release May 4 regarding allegations of misconduct involving a Forney ISD teacher which read as follows: “While there is currently a multi-agency investigation underway, we have now been cleared to share the following information,” said Zastoupil.
