Scurry sweeps Rice in softball, baseball doubleheader

news@kaufmanherald.com The Scurry-Rosser softball and baseball teams took down the Rice Lady Bulldogs and Bulldogs this past Friday, April 10. The Lady Wildcats took care of business on Friday in an 11-5 win over Rice before the boys finished with a 10-0 shutout win on Friday night.

Kaufman County woman pleads guilty to 2024 murder

news@kaufmanherald.com A 41-year-old Forney woman plead guilty to the shooting death of her husband in Kaufman County. According to a press release from the Kaufman County District Attorney Erleigh Wiley’s office, Mayra Diosdado Lara pled guilty to murder in the Feb.

Kaufman girls’ golfers advance to Regionals

Two members of the Kaufman High School girls’ varsity golf team are advancing to Regionals. Bryleigh and Rae finished third place as a team with Bryleigh taking second overall and Rae finishing eighth overall. They both advance to Regionals in Pottsboro from April 15-16.

One suspect at large in shooting death

One suspect remains at large after a shooting killed one person and injured another on Thursday, March 26. Kaufman County Dispatch received a report of a shooting in the area of County Road 103 in Kaufman County on Thursday around 10 p.m.
