Kaufman County Grand Jury returned 31 indictments Dec. 5.

Kemp City Council voted Dec. 9 to approve an action of the Kemp Economic Development Corp. (EDC) to provide a forgivable loan not to exceed $35,000 to Providence Equipment to assist the retail operation locate a store on the eastern edge of town along U.S. Highway 175, in return for job creation.

rsnow@foreverfamiliestx.org Celebrate Forever Families is thrilled to announce its upcoming Casino Night Gala, a community fundraiser to benefit the organization’s domestic abuse shelter and the families who rely on it for safety, refuge, and hope. The event will be held at the Kaufman Event Center located at 607 E. Fair Street in Kemp, at 6 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 21 featuring casino-style gaming, gourmet bites, premium beverages, entertainment, and opportunities to win exciting prizes!

The Forney Chamber of Commerce, Forney Legacy Project, and Forney Education Foundation, with the support of local businesses and community members, successfully provided full Thanksgiving meals and supplemental groceries to 250 families in need.

Community partner Kaufman Brookshire’s named Lucille Nash Elementary School’s Lauren Plugge as their Fall Brookshire’s Teacher of the Season. Her picture will also be displayed inside the Kaufman location.
