John Baker was a Veteran of the War of 1812, a Veteran of the Battle of New Orleans, a Texas Ranger, an Early Settler of Kaufman County, a Veteran of the Battle of Plum Creek, a Gonzale Minute Man, and a Defender of the Republic of Texas.

Students interested in the automotive industry invited to free program at Texas Motorplex on October 10 prior to big weekend of NHRA Racing

Students and teachers from throughout D/FW will have a unique opportunity to explore careers in the automotive industry in the ideal setting, Texas Motorplex, on the morning before the track hosts day one of the Texas NHRA FallNationals on Friday October 10, 2025. The event is hosted by the 2025 NHRA Youth & Education Services (YES) Program, a nationwide initiative designed to inspire students to explore rewarding careers in the automotive industry at no cost to participants.
