Kaufman’s netters were active yet again this past weekend, serving up aces and hitting winners on the court. This past week featured Crandall’s summer tournament along with a few other UTRs around the metroplex area.
The East Texas Tournament Circuit continued this week, featuring North Forney, Tyler, and Sulphur Springs. Kaufman’s athletes competed in the North Forney Tournament on Saturday, June 28.
Kaufman’s tennis athletes continue to stay active each weekend, competing in the East Texas Tournament Series. Several competed in the Forney UTR last Friday, while others battled it out at the Corsicana UTR on Saturday.
For decades at Lake Tawakoni, the ‘trophy’ blue catfish season began with the first cooling north winds in October and ended with the spring warm up. Fall and winter were the designated time to go hunting for a giant blue catfish.
The fourth week of the East Texas Tennis Circuit concluded June 14 with members of the Kaufman Tennis Team in full swing. Kaufman had a few representatives who competed in the Tyler UTR Tournament; however, the competition proved to be very stiff on the day.
As far back as I can remember, I longed to fish the re-mote waters of a ‘fly in’ lake in Canada. As a youngster, I thumbed through the pages of out-door magazines, paying close attention to the articles pertaining to fishing for pike, walleye, and Arctic gray-ing in pristine waters for fish that had never seen a lure.
The East Texas Tennis Circuit continued a few weeks ago. Kaufman’s athletes were back at it again, competing in Argyle, Midlothian, Wills Point and Van.
This past week was a good one for your old outdoor scribe. I’ve enjoyed some red hot catfish catching, spent time setting up a corn feeder on my little place in hopes of keeping a sounder of hog from ripping my heavily laden pear tree apart and wrapped things up with a trip to Nacogdoches for a deer hunting show presented by the East Texas Chapter of the Dallas Safari Club.
