The Kemp Yellowjackets start their second year in Class 4A with a new quarterback, Nathan Dunn, said head coach BJ Rider, who is entering his fourth season at the helm of his alma mater. “I don’t have a win-loss expectation,” Coach Rider states.

LaCedra Miller, who graduated from Kemp High School, is in her 24th year of coaching. She is the head coach of the high school’s girls’ basketball team, but this year, she adds head coach of the volleyball team to her duties, after being an assistant last season.

news@kaufmanherald.com The Scurry-Rosser Wildcats main goal is to get over the Area round of playoffs, which has stumped them the last three seasons. The Wildcats have advanced to the postseason in 2022, 2023 and 2024.

The Scurry-Rosser Lady Wildcats will look to continue their winning ways in 2025. The varsity volleyball squad has reached the postseason every year since 2018 as they seek an eighth straight playoff appearance.

The Scurry-Rosser Wildcat cross country teams are in search of building a strong team culture and translating that into success under new Head Coach Ashley Neighbors- Tucker. Entering the 2025 season, Coach Tucker is in her second year as Scurry-Rosser ISD.

The Kaufman High School tennis program kicked off its season this past week with back-to-back matches on Monday, Aug. 4 and Tuesday, Aug.

Kaufman Lady Lion Kaylee Wrenn (#31) recently competed at the Texas Girls Coaches Association All-Star basketball game in Arlington. Wrenn is pictured during the game, as well as with TGCA representatives and Kaufman Head Basketball Coach Amy Ingram.

The final week of the East Texas Tennis Circuit wrapped up this past weekend. The final tournament was held at Wills Point, featuring doubles only. A few Kaufman athletes elected to compete in the event.

Kemp ISD hosted their summer football and volleyball summer camps July 16-17 for ages Kindergarten through sixth grade. .

Kaufman hosted the East Texas Tennis Tournament Circuit during the weekend of July 18-19. Doubles were played on Friday, with singles following on Saturday. Over 100 athletes competed in the tournament.
