The Kaufman Lady Lions varsity basketball team powered their way past Caddo Mills (38-18) and Farmersville (50-38) on jan10 and Jan. 14 at Kaufman high School and Farmersville High School respectively.
With these victories, Kaufman improves to 16-8 overall and 5-1 in District 14-4A play.
Against Caddo Mills, Kaufman used a 21-4 scoring spurt that covered the second and third quarters combined to take full command of this game. From there, victory was assured.
In the first half of the Farmersville game, the action was fast and furious and there were several momentum shifts. At halftime, this game was tied at 23-all. But, the Lady Lions owned the second half as they outscored the Lady Farmers 27-15 to pull away for the victory.
Top players for Kaufman in the Caddo Mills game were as follows:
Piper Wilburn: 11 points, six rebounds, two assists, and three steals.
Aubre Prox: nine points and three assists.
Jordyn Prox: eight points and five rebounds.
Kaylee Wrenn: seven points and two rebounds.
Zoey Prox: five rebounds and three steals.
Lillie Reven: four rebounds.
Main contributors for Kaufman in the Farmersville game were as follows
Wrenn: 18 points, two rebounds, and three steals. 12 of Wrenn’s points in this game came from the free throw line.
Aubre Prox: 10 points, five rebounds, four assists, and five steals.
Wilburn: nine points, nine rebounds, and six steals.
Jordyn Prox: eight points and three rebounds.
Zoey Prox: five rebounds and two steals.
