Lions place at Polar Bear tennis tourney

Chloe Dubose and Makayla Mays took the top spots in 18U singles last weekend at the Polar Bear tennis tournament in Sunnyvale. 

The annual Polar Bear Tournament was this past weekend in Sunnyvale. Twnety-four student athletes from Kaufman High School and Junior High participated in the tournament. In the 18U boys singles division, Kaufman's Cristian Gutierrez finished second behind Forney's Cody Bui. Eli Frosch placed third in the division. In the 18U girls division, Chloe Dubose defeated her teammate Makayla Mays in the finals, giving Kaufman first and second. Christian Guitierrez and Ruben Perez took home first place in 18U boys doubles

In the 14U singles division, Kaufman's Kayden Lengacher placed first while teammate Beau Thompson finished third. Forney's Kate Guerra took first place in 14U girls singles division, with Laisha Ochoa and Natalya Morales placing second and third, respectively.

The Polar Bear Tournament is held annually in January and is sponsored by Matt Harness, Lance Groves, and Brandon Negri, who run Forney and Sunnyvale tennis academies.
