The stands were packed Friday night as the Eustace Bulldogs hosted the Scurry-Rosser Wildcats for Homecoming, with the Wildcats gutting out a tough outing against a strong Eustace team.
Scurry quarterback Tanner Vaughn connected with wide receiver Rowdy Miller for a touchdown in the first half, but a holding penalty negated the score for the Wildcats. The Wildcats were unable to find the end zone against the Bulldog defense and were held scoreless in the first half.
In the second half, the Wildcats caught a little momentum, scoring two touchdowns against a swarming Bulldog defense. Vaughn threw two touchdowns on the night, the first to wide receiver Jaxon Jonas for a 24-yard touchdown strike. Kicker Emilio Gutierrez added the extra point. The second score was a three-yard toss to Miller, and the officials didn't call this one back.
The Wildcats were plagued by penalties throughout the evening, costing the team several opportunities, ending in a final score of 43-13.
Vaughn was 19-31 for 241 yards for the evening, including two touchdowns and two interceptions. Up next for the Wildcats, Scurry-Rosser travels to Edgewood on Friday to take on the Bulldogs.
