The Kaufman varsity girls basketball team has opened the 2018-19 season 3-0.
Kaufman opened the year on Nov. 6 with a win over South Garland 55-31.
Kaufman jumped in front 15-2 in the first quarter and grew the lead to 29-5 at halftime.
All South Garland’s points came on 5-8 free throw shooting.
South Garland made a small dent in the third quarter to trail 35-15, but Kaufman responded with a 20-point fourth period.
Kayla Sellers put in eight points in the first and fourth quarters on her way to a 21-point night.
Kylee Sisson added 13 points and Lexi Wrenn seven.
On Nov. 10 Kaufman defeated Eustace 54-23 with Wrenn popping in 16 points, Sisson nine, Sellers eight and Kaylee Morrow and Kyla West six each.
Kaufman trailed 7-6 after the first quarter and took the lead 17-13 at the half. A 20-point third quarter pushed the lead to 37-17.
The Lady Lions got a 47-5 win over Dallas Conrad on Dec. 13.
Kaufman scored 16 points in the first quarter, 15 in second, 12 in third and four in fourth while limiting Conrad to a three-point basket in the second quarter and a two-pointer in the third.
Leading scorers were West with 12, Wrenn eight, Jasmine Sellers eight and Kayla Sellers six.
