Danny K. Rand passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, Nov. 8, 2018. He was born on Dec. 18, 1944 in Kaufman to John Edmund and Lorena Pearl Rand who preceded him in death. Danny, a beloved and devoted husband, father, and grandfather, is survived by his wife, Nita Rand, of Kaufman, whom he married on Dec. 12, 1986. He is also survived by two sons, Jackie Dan Rand of Dallas and Perry Joe Rand and wife, Amy, of Rockwall. He is also survived by his daughter, Samantha Knoerr Manning and husband, Bill, of Kaufman; six grandchildren, Dawson K. Spence, Allison Grace Rand, Daniel Joseph Rand, Jacob Michael Rand, Amanda Manning Tischler and husband Jesse, and Marshal Lane Manning; and two great-grandchildren, Ryder Manning and Shaylee Tischler. He was so proud of his children and grandchildren who were the light and joy of his life. He is also survived by three brothers, Jimmy, Freddy and David Rand; and one sister, Eydie Rand Huddleston, as well as nieces, nephews and cousins.
Uncle Sam called Danny to join the U.S. Army in October 1966 through October 1968. He spent his boot camp days at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. then to Chicago prior to Vietnam for 11 months. Danny had his own business in Kaufman from 1976 to November 2014 when he retired. His enjoyment was fishing, hunting and fast cars which he enjoyed building, along with gardening and raising cattle.
Danny’s faith in God and his family were the priorities in his life. He was active in the Living Church of God and treasured his time there with his family and friends.
Most people remember Danny for his friendliness and contagious smile. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Funeral services for Danny were held under the direction of Parker-Ashworth Funeral Home of Kaufman on Sunday Nov. 11, 2018 at 2 p.m. with interment following in Fox Cemetery.
