Heritage society holds 161st city birthday

Posted: Wednesday, October 10, 2012 11:00 am | Updated: 3:37 pm, Wed Oct 17, 2012.

A large group of area residents gathered at Maples Hall on Saturday, celebrating Kaufman’s 161st birthday with a spotlight on the 1930s and a re-enactment of a Bonnie and Clyde bank robbery.

Carolyn Long, a member of the Kaufman County Heritage Society, which put on the celebration, said paying attention to the 1930s was done to honor those ancestors who made it through the bleakest economic times in United States history.
