Star Transit, the public transportation agency in Kaufman County, has received $1,378,472 in grants through the Texas Department of Transportation.

TxDOT announced the June 2018 Public Transportation award last week totaling $82 million.

Star Transit received a $1,013,099 annual operating award, a $265,373 annual vehicle replacement award and a $100,000 one-time planning grant award.

The public transportation funds administered by TxDOT support transit programs serving 41 percent of the state’s population and cover more than 96 percent of the state’s land area, according to TxDOT.

The awards include state and federal funds.

Star Transit services include a trolley in Kaufman and a link service between Kaufman and Terrell, as well as on-demand service.
