Early in the morning of Jan. 10, a Kaufman County resident was driving in Kemp when his car went underneath a semi-truck, crushing the roof. Kemp, Mabank and Kaufman fire departments responded to the accident.

Thanks to the combined efforts of the three departments, the driver was extricated and transported to a hospital in Dallas. Crews were able to remove the top and doors of the vehicle to gain complete access to the victim.
