Jordan recalls events, his colleague

Andrew Jordan, head of the Kaufman County Public Defenders Office, had spent many hours with assistant district attorney Mark Hasse — each on the opposite side of a long list of court cases.

On Thursday, Jan. 31, Jordan stepped out the door to the area behind his offices, found a crowd of people in shock, and soon learned his friend and courtroom competitor had been shot and killed.
