Kaufman GOP primaries to use paper voting system

Posted: Thursday, February 13, 2014 12:00 am

The Kaufman County Republican Party ruled it will only use paper voting equipment for the March 4 primary election to keep in compliance with the Texas election code, which mandates that only one type of voting method may be used per polling place.

The change came as a result of a notification by County Tax Assessor-Collector Tonya Ratcliff, who told the Commissioners' Court on Jan. 27 that the county's lawyer determined the county had not been in compliance with the section of the code that says any given polling place may only use one method of voting with the exception of one disabled-accessible method.
