Since 2018, REACH Child Placing Agency has served children and families in Kaufman County who are in crisis, with a particular focus on child adoption and foster care. Recently, REACH CEO Tammy Pargoud expressed the need for foster care help in the community, as the sole foster care/adoption agency in the county.
“We are in a foster care crisis and we desperately need foster families,” said Pargoud. “Our foster homes are 100 percent filled.”
However, Pargoud shared an alternative option for those looking to help. Those without the time or space to be a foster parent can temporarily look after children in foster care. REACH has created a program where individuals can be certified to watch foster children when their foster family needs a break.
“If you’re off on the weekends and a foster family wants to go to dinner or celebrate an anniversary, you could take care of the kids for a day,” shared Pargoud.
