While spring cleaning can be a convenient excuse to expel old appliances, sometimes those unwanted items don’t fit into a spring schedule. Kaufman County has dates for every month of the year where residents can clean-up their space at free collection events. All collection events will last between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Precinct 1 will host their events at the Convenience Station in Kaufman, located at 701 Alton St. Collection dates include Jan. 7, May 6, and Sept. 9.
Precinct 2 will host their dates at the Road and Bridge Maintenance Facility located on 12051 Pct Circle in Forney. Collection dates include Feb. 4, June 10, and Oct. 7.
Precinct 3 will host their events at the Terrell Convenience Station located on 287 FM 429. Collection dates include March 4, July 8, and Nov. 4.
Precinct 4 will host their dates at two different locations. ECO Station, located on 6520 Plainview Dr. in Kemp, will host collection dates on April 1, Aug. 5, and Dec. 2. Another date is scheduled to be held in Crandall on April 15. The location has yet to be decided.
Free items that will be accepted at each location include mattresses, furniture, appliances, trash, and recyclables. Construction debris, dump trailers, enclosed trailers, and cattle trailers will not be accepted.
Tires will be accepted for free on April 1, April 15, May 6, June 10, and July 8. The limit for tire drop-off is 10 per household and tires will be accepted until the truck is full. Only passenger tires will be accepted, and no rims will be accepted.
For a collection charge, visitors can drop-off tires, televisions, computers, microwaves, latex paint, pesticide containers, and hazardous household waste. Check blackjackdisposal.com for pricing.
Items that will not be accepted include barbed wire, bricks, concrete, construction materials, rocks, roofing shingles, brush, boats, travel trailers, and dead animals of any kind.
Proof of residence will be required at all locations. Visitors can provide a driver’s license or a water bill.
Kaufman Convenience Station will be open for visitors to bring items not being collected at the free event. Check out www.kaufmancounty.net for pricing. Coupons will need to be purchased by Fridays at 4:30 p.m.
