The Crandall Lady Pirates softball team suffered District 14-5A losses to Corsicana (11-1) and Forney High School (15-0) on April 21 and April 22 at Corsicana High School and Crandall High School.
These losses ended Crandall’s 2023 season at 11-20 overall and 5-7 in District 14-5A play.
The Lady Tigers from Corsicana scored two runs in the first inning, three in the second, one in the third, three in the fourth, and two in the fifth on their way to victory.
The only run that the Lady Pirates scored in the Corsicana game came on a RBI single to center field by Sarah Smith in the top of the fourth inning.
Against Forney High School, the Lady Pirates were shut out on one hit — an infield single by Madyson Bass in the bottom of the first inning.
For the Lady Rabbits, they scored three runs in the first inning, one in the second, one in the third, and 10 in the fourth to secure the victory.
Forney High School is now 26-6 overall and 12-0 in District 14-5A play.
The 2023 playoff teams out of District 14-5A in softball are Forney High School, Ennis, Red Oak, and Corsicana.
