The Crandall Pirates track and field teams posted some strong results at the District 13-5A and District 14-5A Area Track and Field Meet on April 20 and April 21 at Princeton High School.
Overall, the Crandall boys (78 points) and the Crandall girls (28 points) finished fourth and sixth respectively in the area meet team standings.
The schools at this area meet were Crandall, Forney High School, Lancaster, Red Oak, Ennis, Terrell, Princeton High School, Denison, Lovejoy, Corsicana, Greenville, McKinney North, and Melissa.
Here are the Class 5A Region II Track and Field Meet qualifiers for Crandall High School. Note: To qualify for the regional meet, an athlete must have a top four finish in an event at the area meet.
Luke Moffitt: Area Meet champion in the 800 meters (1:56.75).
Thomas Scheirman: Area Meet champion in the pole vault (14’6”).
4X400 relay: Area Meet champions (3:20.41). – team of Deondre Bowman, Sammy Omosigho, Josh Smith, and Moffitt.
4X200 relay: finished in second place (1:26.81) – team of Moffitt, Smith, Jones, and Kase Mumphrey. Their time in this race is a new CHS record.
4x100 relay: finished in third place (41.71 seconds) – team of Bowman, Omosigho, Smith, and Kendrick Jones. Their time in this race is a new CHS record.
Bowman: third place finish in the 300-meter hurdles (39.98 seconds).
Ainsley Horn: fourth place finish in the 300-meter hurdles (46.28 seconds). – Horn’s time in this race is a new CHS record.
Hannah Omosigho: third place finish in the shot put (37’5.75”).
Carly Fendley: fourth place finish in the shot put (36’2.75”).
Reyna Vargas: fourth place finish in the 1600 meters (5:28.12).
Tatum West: fourth place finish in the high jump (5’2”).
The Class 5A Region II Track and Field Meet is scheduled to take place on April 28 and April 29 at the University of Texas at Arlington.
