Kaufman baseball defeats Quinlan Ford, falls to Canton

After these results, Kaufman’s record stands at 13-15 overall and 7-4 in District 14-4A play.

In the Quinlan Ford game, Kaufman scored two runs in the first inning, one in the third, five in the fourth, and three in the fifth on their way to a run rule victory.

The offensive standouts in this game for Kaufman were Cody Dickinson (three hits), Jordan Nalls (one hit and two RBIs), Issac Leija (one hit and two RBIs), Levi Gardner (one hit and one RBI), Anthony De La Fuente (one hit and one RBI), Thomas Stevens (one hit), and David Alvarez (one hit and one RBI).

In the Canton game, Kaufman broke a scoreless tie in the top of the fourth inning by plating a run via an error. So, now the Lions led 1-0.

Canton answered back by scoring two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to take a 2-1 lead. The runs came home via a RBI hit by pitch and an error.

The score stayed at 2-1 until the top of the sixth inning. That is when Kaufman’s De La Fuente produced a RBI single to left field which tied the game at 2-all.

But, in the bottom of the seventh inning, Canton won the game in walk off fashion with a RBI single to right field. Final Score: Canton 3 Kaufman 2.
