Kaufman track girls win area meet team title, boys finish second

The schools at this area meet were Kaufman, Sunnyvale, Dallas Carter, Dallas Lincoln, Dallas Roosevelt, Dallas Pinkston, Farmersville, Nevada Community, Wills Point, North Dallas, Dallas Wilmer Hutchins, Caddo Mills and Quinlan Ford.

Here are the Kaufman athletes who qualified for the Class 4A Region II Track and Field Meet. Note: To make it to the regional meet, an athlete must have a top four finish in an event at the area meet.

Kaufman Varsity Girls:

Kathryn Tucker: Area Meet champion in the 3200 meters (11:52.56) and Area Meet champion in the 1600 meters (5:25.79).

Keira Drake: Area Meet champion in the 100-meter hurdles (15.09 seconds), second place finish in the 300-meter hurdles (47.02 seconds), second place finish in the triple jump (35’0”), and fourth place finish in the long jump (15’8.25”).

Madison Thurston: second place finish in the 3200 meters (12:25.36) and second place finish in the 1600 meters (5:43.80).

Barbara Ruiz: third place finish in the 3200 meters (12:27.48) and third place finish in the 1600 meters (5:46.70).

Garrah Prox: fourth place finish in the 100-meter hurdles (16.28 seconds) and fourth place finish in the 300-meter hurdles (48.04 seconds).

Sophia Lee: second place finish in the 800 meters (2:21.92).

4X400 relay: third place finish (4:06.32). – Team of Allie Page, Lee, Tucker, and Katharine Elzner.

Madelyn Kinney: fourth place finish in the discus (99’6”).

Aubre Prox: third place finish in the triple jump (34’1”).

Kaufman Varsity Boys:

Beau Thompson: Area Meet champion in the 3200 meters (10:18.25) and Area Meet champion in the 1600 meters (4:40.60).

Garron Kinney: Area Meet champion in the discus (144’11) and third place finish in the shot put (45’9”).

Pierce Drake: third place finish in the 1600 meters (4:58.89) and third place finish in the 800 meters (2:04.09).

Edward Rivera: fourth place finish in the 800 meters (2:12.48) and fourth place finish in the 3200 meters (10:43.94).

Jeremiah Brown: second place finish in the 200 meters (22.11 seconds).

Garrett Potter: second place finish in the 300 hurdles (41.53 seconds).

4X100 relay: finished in second place (43.24 seconds) – Team of Mitchum Patterson, Bronson Chavez, Brown, and Johnathon Wrenn.

4X200 relay: finished in fourth place (1:31.16) – Team of Patterson, Brown, Kylevon Morrow, and Wrenn.

Will Bowers: second place finish in the discus (141’8”).

The Class 4A Region II Track and Field Meet is scheduled to take place on April 28 and April 29 at Texas A&M-Commerce University.
