Kaufman coach Todd York predicted a knock-down-drag-out old style football game earlier this week and in a game that included a rash of personal fouls against the visiting Chapel Hill Bulldogs, his prediction came to light in the Lions 52-30 loss.

While Kaufman lost 15-yards in three penalties, Chapel Hill gave away 128 yards to 14 penalties.

Kaufman senior Hippo Perea opened scoring with 7:15 left in the first quarter combined with Austin McDaniel’s kick put the Lions up early for a 7-0 lead.

It took Chapel Hill’s quarterback DeKerrian Cooper just more than three minutes to put the Bulldogs on the board and Jalen Goss’s kick tied the score 7-7.

Three minutes later, Lion Kevin Dotie came back with a 5-yard run and a good kick put the Lions back on top for the next :43, when Chapel Hill’s Matthew Tucker ran for 55-yards to score.

The second quarter settled the players and the defense stepped up allowing only one Bulldog score when Jordan Antley scored on a 31-yard pass and made the exact same play to convert for two.

The Lions and Bulldogs each scored twice in the third.

Chapel Hill opened second-half scoring when Tucker ran for a 63-yard touchdown and ran in again for the conversion with 11:09 left in the third.

Keeping with what worked for the Bulldogs, Tucker made another touchdown with 5:39 left and Alberto Lopez’s kick was good.

Kaufman’s offense switched quarterbacks and Austin McDaniel’s pass connected with R.J. Turner  for a 54-yard touchdown at 4:58.

With :19 left in the third, Kaufman got as close as the 7-yards from a touchdown, but couldn’t break through the Bulldog line and instead made a field goal.

Tucker combined for two more touchdown runs in the fourth at 5:36 and 2:12. He also added another 2 points after opening scoring in the final quarter.

McDaniel finished out the Lions’ game with a 34-yard pass to Kendall Wrenn with 4:40 left  in the game and Batres’ PAT was good, but it was too late for a Lion comeback.

" throw the ball more. if u throw the ball more u will quit having 9 defensive players in the box. u have to throw to get the safetys and linebackers to play more honest. everyone knows york u run the ball 98 percent of the time. its not going to work anymore "
