Warsaw Homecoming

Celebrate Recovery

Grief Support
Kaufman County Area Grief Support Group, for anyone who has lost a loved one, meets the third Monday of each month at 6 p.m. at Lakes Regional MHMR, 400 State Hwy. 34 in Kaufman. For further information, call Cheryl at 214-738-2375 and Michele at 972-965-6291.
Diabetes Support
A free diabetes support group will meet at 10 a.m. May 17 in the community room at Presbyterian Hospital of Kaufman. Dr. Larry Tarrant, O.D., will discuss “Vision and Diabetes.”
Free Screening
CVS/pharmacy, 102 E. Mulberry St. in Kaufman, will be holding free glucose and body composition screenings from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 27.
Co-Ed Softball
The Kaufman annual Park and Recreation Adult Co-Ed Softball Tournament is scheduled for June 14. Entry fee is $200 per team. Deadline to turn in registration form and fee is May 14. Late registrations will be charge an additional $25. First, second and third place teams will receive trophies while first and second place teams also will receive t-shirts. Master Composters
A master composter class will be held May 17 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at First Christian Church, 405 N. Adelaide St. in Terrell. Class fee is $30 for Kaufman County Environmental Co-op members and $35 for non-members. Fee covers instruction, training materials and lunch. Call 972-524-0007 for registration.
Open House
An Open House and ribbon cutting for Agrilife (formally Texas Cooperative Extension Service), 2471 N. State Hwy. 34 in Kaufman, will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 30. The ribbon cutting will be at 1 p.m.
Garage Sale
The annual Greater Kaufman Rotary Club Garage Sale will be held May 16 and 17 at 704 Adams Lane, Kaufman (off of Houston Street).
Chamber Luncheon
The Kaufman Chamber of Commerce Membership Luncheon will be held at noon May 19 at Kudo’s Stage & Grill.
Pancake Breakfast
The Kaufman Lions Club Site and Tissue Pancake Breakfast will be held from 7 to 9 a.m. May 21 at First United Methodist Church. Tickets are $5, and are vailable from any Lion Club member or at the Kaufman Chamber of Commerce.
Fishing Fun
The Kaufman Police Association’s Kid's Fishing Tournament will be held June 14 at the Star Brand Ranch lake off FM 1390. Fishing will begin at 7 a.m. Registration forms and more info can be picked up at Kaufman Police Department anytime. Call 972-932-3094.

KISD Options High School will be offering Credit By Exam on June 3-5. Students must register with the principal or counselor by April 28. Exams will be ordered by Kaufman ISD from Texas Tech University. Study guides (review sheets) are available for download at www.depts.ttu.edu/ode/cbereview.asp . Kaufman Lion fund-raiser cards with discounts for LOCAL businesses may be purchased for $10 each. Discounts will be good until April 30, 2009. Cards may be purchased from members of the senior class, Marisa Olivarez at the Kaufman High School, or Vickie Painter at The Kaufman Herald.
