Christmas Eve death leads to manslaughter charge

Auston Armstrong

A family gathering went terribly wrong in Elmo on Christmas Eve.

Kaufman County Sheriff’s Officers arrived at the 9400 block of CR 312 at about 11 p.m., responding to a disturbance at a home.

They found a male victim who had been stabbed, reportedly by a family member. A female, Brittani Davis, 20, was unconscious. She was transported to a hospital and pronounced dead. She may have been shoved during the incident and struck her head, according to police.

The male stabbing victim was transported to a hospital in Dallas and was reported in stable condition.

Auston Armstrong, 26, was charged with manslaughter, a second-degree felony, along with two charges of aggravated assault. He remains in Kaufman County Jail on $820,000 bond. One assault charge is for causing serious bodily injury, and the other is for assault with a deadly weapon and family violence.

Court records show Armstrong had previous arrests for resisting arrest and driving while intoxicated.

A facebook page for Brittani Davis said she lived in Terrell and was a manager of an accessories business.
