The Combine Volunteer Fire Dept. will celebrate its 50th anniversary Saturday, Oct. 20 from 5-8:30 p.m. at Point View Baptist Church. The evening includes a barbecue dinner with homemade desserts and a 50th birthday cake; live and silent auctions; live music by the Acoustic Sound Hounds; drawings and door prizes; Combine FD 50th year apparel; equipment display including a CareFlite helicopter landing; and a chance to meet fire department members, city leaders and neighbors. Items for the auction may be dropped off at the fire station, city hall or any fire fighter.

One of the long-standing traditions in the City of Kaufman has been the annual Halloween on Houston. However, due to ongoing construction on Houston Street, this year the event will be held on the square in downtown Kaufman on Wednesday, Oct. 31 from 6-9 p.m. The downtown merchants are coordinating the event, and the residents on Houston Street have been invited to participate.

It’s a comedy of how four lifelong friends’ lives are turned upside down to hilarious ends when their book club tackles the infamous “Fifty Shades of Grey.” This event is free and open to the public. The Kaufman Athletic Boosters Club meets the first Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the KHS Library during the regular school year. This organization is for parents of all KISD athletes.

Meals on Wheels
Kaufman County Senior Citizens serves meals Monday through Friday at the senior center at 112 S. Jackson St. and also delivers Meals on Wheels. Volunteers are needed to help deliver meals. To volunteer or for more information call 972-932-7002.
