The annual Kaufman Lighted Christmas Parade is planned Saturday, Dec. 8 at 6 p.m., along with the Christmas tree lighting, to cap the Christmas on the Square event.

The parade will include prizes for the best floats. There is no entry fee.

Entries will line up at Washington Square parking lot on S. Washington St. by 5:30 p.m. Entries may not have a Santa Claus. Line up is first come, first served.

All ATV drivers must be 16 years old and present a valid Texas drivers license.

Parade route will proceed up Washington to the courthouse square and Shannon Park.

Following the parade, the lighting of the city Christmas tree will be held in the plaza of the new Kaufman Municipal Complex.

The children’s choir from Helen Edwards Early Childhood center will perform, and Santa will be on hand.

The children’s corner, sponsored by Keep Kaufman Beautiful, will be from 2-5 p.m. and includes Christmas cookie decorating, Christmas crafts and activities, story time with Mrs. Santa and a visit with Santa.

Other activities on the square were cancelled on Dec. 5 due to the forecast for inclement weather.
