The Kaufman VFW post hosts Shotgun Karaoke Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m.-midnight and Sunday from 3-6 p.m. Guido’s Kitchen has chicken fried steak with two sides and dessert for $7 a plate Saturday from 6:30-9:30 p.m. and Sunday morning breakfast from 8-11a.m. for a $5 donation, with eggs, bacon, sausage and biscuits and gravy.

Aggie Moms offer scholarships

CASA schedules next sessions

A presentation presented by Clover Club of Kaufman will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 14 at Texas Health Resource Kaufman hospital conference room A. Speakers include B. Harvey, a former vice president of Blue Cross Blue Shield; Dr. D. Patterson, vice president of Novitas Solutions, which holds the Medicare and Medicaid contract for Texas); and Ajith Pai, professional support officer for Texas Health Resources Kaufman. 

VFW celebrating

St. Patty

Kaufman VFW and Auxiliary will host a St. Patrick’s Day event March 17 with karaoke and spaghetti/lasagna night beginning at 6 p.m. for a $6 donation. All are welcome.

Family Fun Night

Helen Edwards Early Childhood Center and the City of Kaufman are teaming for the annual Family Fun Night Thursday, March 22 at Shannon Park, with outdoor games, face painting, music, vendors and food.

Egg Hunt

The ninth annual city of Kaufman Easter egg hunt is Saturday, March 24 at the Kaufman Sports Complex. Photos start at 10 a.m. and the hunts will begin at 11 by age groups, toddler through fifth grade. For more information contact Margaret Barr at 972-962-8007.

There will be a coloring contest and balloon artist and the Easter bunny.

The Country Bible Church and Kaufman Church of Christ are having a Serve Day together on Sunday, March 25, and one of the projects is trash clean up and bridge painting to cover graffiti on CR 283.

Kaufman County Day planned

The annual Kaufman County Day in the state capital is set for Monday, March 26, co-sponsored by the chambers of commerce in Kaufman and Terrell. To register complete the form available from the Kaufman and Terrell chambers.

New Hope Easter events 

New Hope Southern Baptist Church is hosting an Easter event Saturday, March 31 at Shannon Park in Kaufman from noon-3 p.m. with free hot dogs, drinks and bounce house. On Sunday, April 1 a special Easter service is set for 10:30 a.m. with children’s Easter egg hunt to follow at 1119 CR 278.

Jake E’s Truck Wagon Dinner

The 2018 extravaganza is Saturday, April 7 at Jake E’s therapeutic horseback riding and healing center at 10626 FM 429. Gates open at 9 a.m. for the equine obstacle course from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Gates open at 4 p.m. for the evening events. Admission is $15 (10 and younger free). Colt breaking at 5 p.m. followed by rider exhibition, food trucks from 5-8 p.m., music and dancing, silent auction and door prizes.

Whiskers and Wags Gala

The annual event benefiting the Humane Society of Cedar Creek Lake and Friends of the Animals Low-Cost Spay/Neuter Clinic is Saturday, April 21 at 6 p.m. at the CR Legacy Event Center at 2205 W. Church plans anniversary

Mt. Arie Missionary Baptist Church in Kaufman will celebrate its 114th anniversary and a groundbreaking for a new facility Sunday, April 22.

The day’s events begin with a prayer meeting at 8:45 a.m. at the church at 300 N. Shannon followed by Bible study from 9:30-10:45 and morning worship at 11.

The groundbreaking ceremony is set for 1:30 p.m. at 303 Wilson St. followed by the anniversary lunch at 2 p.m. and anniversary service at 3.

Relay For Life

The annual Kaufman County Relay for Life benefit for the fight against cancer is scheduled Friday, April 27 at 7 p.m. at Furlough Middle School in Terrell. Fundraising goal is $120,000. Contact Adriana Perez at Adriana.perez@cancer.org or 214-819-1213.

Grace Fellowship Health Fair

The Grace Fellowship Baptist Church community health fair is Saturday, April 28 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at 7650 FM 1388. Vendors may register at gracekaufman.org/vendorregistration. The event is a fundraiser to help send youth to camp.

Community Health Fair

The Sharing Community Resources Coalition will hold its second community health fair Saturday, May 19 from 9:30 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Kaufman County Library. The event features vendors with a variety of health-care related information as well as some health screenings.
