Kaufman’s Daylon Dickerson has signed a college scholarship to play football for the SMU Mustangs. The signing took place at Kaufman High School on July 12.

Here are the individual football records that Dickerson currently holds at Kaufman High School:

Most receptions in a game: 10.

Most receiving yards in a season: 777.

Most receptions in a season: 45.

Most receiving yards in a career: 1,560.

Most receptions in a career: 99.

Here are some of the prestigious honors that Dickerson has received during his outstanding football career at Kaufman High School:

First Team All-District wide receiver: junior and senior years (unanimous).

First Team All-District defensive back: senior year (unanimous).

Most Valuable Player on the football team: senior year.

Team Captain: junior and senior years.

Kaufman’s head football coach and athletic director Jeramy Burleson is very proud of Dickerson for what he has done on and off the field during his time at Kaufman High School.

“Daylon Dickerson is a talented young man with tons of leadership skills,” said Burleson. “When college coaches would come in and ask about him, I would tell them about the kind of athlete he was and the kind of leader that he was. But the best thing that I was able to share with them was that in my 22 years of coaching, the best person that I have ever coached was Daylon Dickerson. Daylon will go on and do great things in the SMU athletic program, but Daylon will no doubt be successful at whatever he puts his mind to. I think he will be a great husband and a great father someday and he will be missed but definitely remembered here in Kaufman, Texas. We look forward to seeing him suited up on the “Hill Top” for the Mustangs. #Pony Up.”

It should be noted that Dickerson was a multi-sport star at Kaufman High School. In basketball, he led the Lions to two straight regional semifinal playoff appearances. Also, in basketball, Dickerson was named All-State and All-Region during his senior season. In track and field, Dickerson qualified to the UIL State Meet in the triple jump event during his senior season.

Congratulations to Dickerson on this outstanding achievement!
