Well, summer has officially come to a close! This Monday I sent my kids back to school…man does the time fly. I now have a third grader and an eighth grader in my house…seems like yesterday I was sending them off for their first day of kindergarten. Though it tugs on this momma’s heart strings to watch her boys grow up, I am so proud of the young men they are becoming. I can’t wait to see what this school year has in store for them and how much they will grow in both academics and in character.

As this new school year starts, let us parents and guardians remember to thank our teachers and school staff for all that they do. What they do is not always easy, often these teachers are putting in more hours and effort than what is seen by everyone else. These teachers and staff are a large reason as to why our kids become shaped into smart and successful young adults, they are quite literally shaping the future.

I’m also very thankful for our local police departments in all they do and for their service to our schools. As a parent, I appreciate how they care about our children and their safety and thank them for being out at the schools for the first few weeks to enforce speed limits in school zones and helping control traffic flow.

Here’s to a great school year with many great achievements and memories!
