saluting veterans

The Kaufman ISD Choir Program will have a veterans salute on Thursday, Nov. 8.

The concert will end with the beautiful arrangement of “The Battle Hymn of the Republic” by Wilhousky, with school choirs will be joined by community members.

The evening includes a spaghetti dinner at 6 p.m. Veterans eat free. The concert is at 7 p.m. in the high school Fine Arts Center.

Spaghetti Dinner tickets are $5 and can be purchased from any choir member or Mrs. Collins.

Alzheimer’s and

Dementia support

Alzheimer’s and Dementia Support Group meets every fourth Tuesday from 6-7 p.m. at the Riter C. Hulsey Public Library in Terrell, sponsored by the library and the Terrell Healthcare Center. Contact Angie West at 443-629-4654 for information.

The King’s Fort Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution is hosting its Second Annual Blood Drive. Saturday, Nov. 17 from 10:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. at 200 W. College Street (Good Shepherd Episcopal Church) in Terrell. Stop in to visit the DAR and sign Christmas cards for active duty military stationed abroad.

Co-op announces

recycling days

Beginning Oct. 1, the 24/7 recycling drop off at the Environmental Co-op, 1100 Airport Road in Terrell, will be open only on Wednesday and Saturdays.

Energy assistance offered

For assistance with high heating and cooling bills and weatherization, apply online to the Greater East Texas Community Action Program at www.get-cap.org. Local office is at the Share Center in Terrell, 103 W. Jones St. Eligibility based on household income and high energy burden. No face to face appointment necessary.
